ATTLEBORO, Mass. - For the second time this season Nighthawks sophomore Savannah Olsen (Battle Creek, Mich.) has been named Player of the Week by the New England Collegiate Conference, for the week ending on Feb. 12.
Olsen produced a pair of career-highs in two games this week for the Nighthawks. On Wednesday, Olsen scored 21 points on a season-best 62.5 percent shooting in a victory over Bay Path University.
On Saturday afternoon, Olsen posted a career-high 32 points and grabbed a career-high 25 rebounds in a 83-78 overtime victory against Daniel Webster.
In the Nighthawks two games, Olsen averaged 26.5 points and 20.0 rebounds and broke the 20 point-20 rebound barrier for the first time in her career. The Nighthawks went 2-0 in the NECC last week and moved to sixth in the standings.
The Nighthawks have two games remaining on the schedule; Tuesday at Mitchell and Saturday vs. Wheelock. The Nighthawks still have a chance at the fourth seed in the NECC Playoffs, but will need two wins and a specific set of tiebreakers to fall in their favor.
