BROOKLINE, Mass. - Over the weekend, Nighthawks junior Savannah Olsen (Battle Creek, Mich.) became only the fourth player in program history to reach the 1,000 career point mark, needing just 66 games to do so, making her the fastest player to 1,000 points, beating the old mark by 11 games.
With 2:37 remaining in the first quarter, Olsen stepped to the line, making 1-of-2 foul shots, etching her name in the history books at Newbury. Olsen joins Catherine O'Connell '09 (1,339 points), Randi Hardiman '06 (1,303 points), and teammate Destiny Spears '18 (1,210 points) as the only players to reach 1,000 career points.
For the season, Olsen is averaging 16.6 points, second-most in the New England Collegiate Conference. The Nighthawks are off to a 4-1 start in the NECC, the best conference start since 2012-13 when the team also started 4-1.
