SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. - Nighthawks freshman Khori Jones (Hamilton, N.J.) broke a pair of program records in the Long Jump and Triple Jump, taking first place in both events on Saturday morning at the Mount Holyoke Spring Fling Invitational.
In the long jump, and event she has yet to win, Jones leaped 4.99 meters, breaking the program record by 0.10 meters, previously held by Karra Douglas. In the triple jump, an event she has won in the Indoor Track season, Jones jumped 11.16 meters, beating the next closest competitor by nearly a meter.
Jones wasn't the only one enjoy success on the morning. Freshman Casey Horner (Butler, N.J.) finished second in the 400 meters, running in a time of 1:05.84.
On the men's side, a number of runners enjoyed top-10 finishes on the morning.
In the men's 100 meters, freshman Malik Francis (Kingston, N.Y.) and sophomore Jarrod Smith (Watertown, N.Y.) finished eighth and ninth, respectively. The same duo was sixth and eighth, respectively in the 200 meters.
Senior Chris Beaudoin (Bristol, Conn.) finished 10th in the 400 meter race and fifth in the 1500 meters with a time of 5:18.99.
Smith also added a fifth place finish in the triple jump at 12.26 meters; a new program record.
The Nighthawks are back in action next Saturday, April 22 at the MIT Sean Collier Invitational; the event is set to begin at 10:00 a.m.
