Walsh Earns All-NECC Second Team Honors, Cardoso Named to All-Sportmanship Team

BROOKLINE, Mass. – Senior forward Shannon Walsh (Massapequa, N.Y.) was named to the New England Collegiate Conference Women's Soccer All-Conference Second Team as voted on by the conference's coaches.  Walsh was named to the team as a defender but led Newbury College in goals (7), points (16) and assists (tie-2) in 18 games.

For her career, she played in 62 games, scored 44 goals and registered nine assists for 97 points.  Walsh set the school-record for goals in a career during a 5-1 victory over Wheelock College on September 23.  She then set the school mark in career points in a 2-2 tie at Mitchell College on October 14.

Walsh is also the standard bearer for game-winning goals in a season set last year with her five markers.  She also owns the career game-winning goal school record with 10.

This is the third-consecutive year that Walsh was named to the All-NECC Second Team.  In her freshman campaign, she was named to the NECC All-Conference First Team.
