Women's Soccer Clipped by SVC Mountaineers

Brookline, MA - Southern Vermont's Jayne Wierzbicki netted a pair of goals and Rileigh Griffiths added a 3rd is at the visiting Mountaineers handed the Newbury College Nighthawks a 3-0 defeat in NECC action Saturday afternoon at Hellenic College.

With the victory, the Mountaineers move to 5-4 (1-1-0 NECC) while the Nighthawks fall to 1-9 (1-2-0 NECC).  The clean sheet victory for goalkeeper Melissa Mascari moved her into sole possession of the program's all-time wins record with (30).  

Southern Vermont dominated the match for the beginning, tallying a total of 26 shots in the game. Meanwhile, the Nighthawks managed just one shot attempt by junior Jennifer McDonald.

Mascari cruised to her record-setting victory in net for the Mountaineers, as she didn't have to make a save all afternoon. 

Newbury's goalkeeper Noelle Sass made 13 saves ion the rain-soaked afternoon.

Southern Vermont will return to action on Wednesday, October 4th when they travel to Morrisville State for a 3:00 PM kick-off. The Nighthawks travel to Norwich University on Tuesday, October 3rd to a 6:00 PM non-conference tilt.
