Shuffling Positions in the NECC

Saturday will mark an important match for both teams as the Newbury Nighthawks (3-6, 1-1 NECC) go on the road to face Southern Vermont (4-4-2, 1-1 NECC). The Nighthawks had a two-game winning streak broken by Curry College on Tuesday, while the Mountaineers drew 1-1 with MCLA on Tuesday. Six teams sit at 1-1 in the NECC and a victory Saturday will move the winner to the top half of the table.

Top-Five Goal Scorers Face-Off

Two players in Saturday's game hold top-five positions in goal scoring in the NECC. Nighthawks junior Shannon Walsh (Massapequa, N.Y.) is fifth in the league with six goals. Sophmore Mountaineer Molly Madore is second in the league in goals with nine. Both teams have top heavy offenses as five players have at least one goal this season on Southern Vermont, Newbury has four such players.

Producing Pressure to Win

In four matches this season where Newbury records double-digit shot totals, the team is 3-1-0, with three shutout wins, outscoring opponents 9-1. When the Nighthawks record single digit shots, the Nighthawks are 0-5-0. It will be an important key for Newbury to produce offensively on Saturday to find themselves on the winning side this weekend.
