LONGMEADOW, Mass. - A goal 2:03 into the game by Bay Path's Jailinee Ruiz was the only tally of the game, giving the Wildcats a 1-0 victory over the Nigthhawks on Saturday afternoon. The match was the NECC opener for both teams.

The third minute goal by Ruiz is her fourth on the season and was scored on a blocked shot rebound shot taken by her just seconds prior.

The first half was strong offensively for both sides, who managed nine total shots on goal each. Of those nine shots for the Nighthawks, six were on goal.

Sophomore Jessica Bergeron (Salem, N.H.) lead the Nighthawks with five shots and two shots on goal.

Freshman Faith Cordes (Newburgh, N.Y.) got the start in net for the Nighthawks and was credited with the loss after a 45 minute outing. Sophomore Noelle Sass (Randolph, Mass.) came in relief of Cordes; Sass kept the Wildcats scoreless in her 45 minutes of action.

Bay Path's Caitlyn Esposito earns her first win of the season in a seven-save shutout and lowers her goals against average to a conference best 0.43.

The Nighthawks will be on the pitch again on Tuesday night, facing off against Curry College on the road; kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
