WESTON, Mass. - Pride freshman Brooke Ross (Hanover, Mass.) didn't let the rain cool her off, as she led all scorers with four goals in the Regis College 20-0 victory over the Newbury Nighthawks on Tuesday afternoon at Regis Stadium in New England Collegiate Conference play.
Senior Danielle Aguinaldo (Malden, Mass.) and freshman Kerri Anselmo (Natick, Mass.) both completed a hat trick, scoring three goals and both finishing with one assist. Anselmo also added five ground balls and two forced turnovers.
Nighthawks freshman Anastasia Meleo (Plymouth, Mass.) finished with four ground balls and two draw controls. Sophomore Isabelle Pafford (Greenland, N.H.) finished with a team-high four draw controls. Freshman Keely Molloy (Staten Island, N.Y.) picked up a season-high seven ground balls.
The Pride offense was clicking early and often, outscoring the visitors 13-0 in the game's opening 30 minutes. Ross led the Pride in the first half with three goals.
In the second half, the Pride added seven more goals in the period. DAguinaldo scored a natural hat trick early in the half for the Pride, scoring three goals in a span of just 4:35.
Regis goalkeeper Maresa Malcolm (Barrington, N.J.) made two saves to pick up her first collegiate shutout. The shutout was the first for the Pride since the 2015 season.
Despite picking up the loss, Molloy (Staten Island, N.Y.) made an impressive 26 saves, upping her league lead to 195.
The Nighthawks inaugural season has come to an end with the Nighthawks finishing 0-13 (0-8 NECC). The Pride improves to 13-3 (8-0 NECC) and takes hold of the Regular Season Conference Title.
The Pride will conclude their regular season on the road on Saturday, when the team travels to Framingham State for a non-conference matchup with the Rams at 7:00 p.m.
