Taking place in the inaugural New England Collegiate Conference Track & Field Championships, both the Nighthawks Men's and Women's programs took the first-place team titles on Saturday afternoon at Regis College.
As the track & field season comes to an end, the Nighthawks ready for their first-ever appearance in the New England Collegiate Conference Championship meet. The NECC will partner with the Great Northeast Athletic Conference and their conference championship for the Interconference Championships on Sunday morning.
Freshman Rory Dobbins set a trio of records for the Nighthawks. On the track, in the 110-meter hurdles, Dobbins raced in a time of 18.22, good for the record and 12th place overall. In the field, Dobbins recorded a record discus throw of 21.07 meters and a record javelin throw of 33.55 meters.
Nighthawks freshman David Jean ran the 400-meter dash in a school record 53.38 seconds, taking first place and the top finisher of all Nighthawks in the Eastern Connecticut State Invitational to kick off the 2018 Outdoor Track & Field season.
Freshman Jahwuan Santiago enjoyed success in the field, matching two program records and on the track with one record. His 1.83-meter high jump placed him third while his long jump of 5.75 meters was good for 12th.
