Late Goal Hands Defeat to Nighthawks Versus Dean

Brookline, MA - Dean College's Felipe Campos scored in the 87th minute and Pepe Viera secured the victory just two minutes later to give the visiting Bulldogs a 2-0 NECC victory over Newbury College Saturday afternoon at Hellenic College.

The Nighthawks battled throughout the game defensively. continuously stalling the Dean attack but the visitors managed to capitalize on a misguided goal kick by Newbury's Jarrod Smith to find the winner.

The junior netminder made 12 saves on the afternoon on the 14 shots on goal he faced.  Meanwhile, Dean's Nathan Silveria saved all three shots he faced.

Dean controlled most of the game in the first 45 minutes, holding a 13-1 shot advantage at the break. However, Newbury started to find some footing offensively and nearly took to lead in the 78th minute when Joseph D'Andreti's drive to the bottom corner was pared away by Silveria.

The match, which will be a NECC stable moving forward, saw a combined 32 fouls and six yellow cards.

Newbury will return to action next Saturday, October 7th when they travel to Lesley University for a pivotal NECC regular season matchup.  Kick-off is scheduled for 8:00 PM at the BB&N School.
