FITCHBURG, Mass.- A late first half goal by senior, Kevin Teixeira (Boston, MA) sent the Nighthawks into halftime 1-0, but Newbury could not hold on as Fitchburg State University (4-3) would score a pair of goals in the second half of the match to claim victory at Elliot Field, 2-1.

In the 44th minute, Kevin Teixeira recorded his second goal of the season by redirecting a pass from sophomore Julius Davis (Philadelphia, PA). Jared Burns (E. Bridgewater, MA) opened the scoring for the Falcons in the 50th minute, with an assist from Matthew Krikorian (Groton, MA). With a date with overtime in sight, Krikorian returned to the scoresheet, tapping home a rebound after Jarrod Smith (Watertown, NY) made an initial save, with only seven seconds remaining in the match. Smith made seven saves on the day.

However, the story of the second half was the Falcon offense which outshot the Nighthawks, 13-0 and held a 6-0 advantage in corners.

Newbury's record falls to 3-7 and will return to conference play this weekend when they host Dean College (5-0-1, 1-0 NECC) at Hellenic College on Saturday. Kick-off is set for 12:00 PM.
