  • Underclassmen Group Show Bright Future for Men’s Soccer

    The men’s soccer team recorded their second straight 11 win season and the combination of a talented freshman class and experienced senior class, brought the Nighthawks to the semifinals of the NECC Tournament in 2016. The 11-8-2 record resulted in the best winning percentage in program history (.571).
  • Six Men's Soccer Nighthawks Earn All-NECC Honors

    Six members of the men’s soccer team have been recognized for their outstanding play this season by the NECC. Senior Prince Boateng (Worcester, Mass.) and freshman Nilton De Andrade (Boston, Mass.) made the All-Conference First Team.
  • De Andrade Named NECC Rookie of the Year

    Nighthawks freshman Nilton De Andrade (Boston, Mass.) has been awarded the New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Year for his strong 2016 campaign. De Andrade, who finished with a program freshman record 16 goals and 36 points in 20 games, is the first Rookie of the Year in program history and the first player to win a major award since Shaundize Moosavizadeh won Player of the Year in 2011.
  • Men's Soccer Defeated 4-2 on PK's at Regis (Mass.)

    After 110 minutes, only penalty kicks could settle the match between the Newbury Nighthawks and Regis (Mass.) Pride. A critical stop by Manny Santiago (Bristol, Conn.) of the Pride in the second round of penalty kicks would seperate the Pride from the Nighthawks, giving Regis (Mass.) the edge to a 4-2 victory in penalty kicks on Friday night in the NECC Men's Soccer Semifinals.

    The winner Friday night between the sixth-seed Newbury Nighthawks and the second-seed Regis (Mass.) Pride will earn a spot in the NECC Men's Soccer Finals. By virtue of the second-seed, Regis (Mass.) (10-7-1, 5-2-1 NECC) earned a bye into the semifinal round. The Nighthawks (11-8-1, 4-4-0 NECC) find themselves in the semifinals after a 4-2 upset victory over the third-seeded Lesley Lynx.

    In his third start in his last eight games, freshman Alex Strafer (Auburn, Mass.) found the scoring touch he displayed early in the season, scoring a pair of goals for sixth ranked Newbury tonight in the Nighthawks 4-2 upset victory of third ranked Lesley Univeristy at Edward Field.
  • Men's Soccer Quarterfinal: #3 Lesley vs. #6 Newbury

    Men's soccer will begin their quest to the title game on Tuesday night with a trip to Lesley University. Lesley (6-10-2, 5-2-1 NECC) despite finishing below .500, earned the three seed with a strong conference season. The Nighthawks (10-8-1, 4-4-0 NECC) finished in the sixth spot after finishing the season with double-digit wins for the second time in program history.

    An undefeated conference season for Daniel Webster gives them the top seed in the NECC Playoffs to begin on Tuesday, Oct. 29. The top two seeds in the men's draw earn a bye directly into the semifinals.

    The Nighthawks will celebrate Senior Day before today's match between Newbury College (10-7-1, 4-3 NECC) and the Daniel Webster Eagles (9-5-3, 4-0-2 NECC) at Medford High School. Wednesday's contest is a rematch from the 2015 NECC Championship Game, a match that went to Daniel Webster, 1-0.

Both teams are coming off a loss in their previous game. The Nighthawks fell 2-0 to conference rival Regis College, while Fisher lost 6-1 to Dean College.

    After opening the season 4-0-1 with 19 goals and averaging 22.8 shots, the Nighthawks men's team has struggled to find the back of the net in the last three games, being shutout twice and averaging 12.3 shots per game. The Nighthawks have tested themselves early on this season facing opponents such as, then ranked No. 13 MIT and local NJCAA powerhouse Dean College.
