Newbury Drops Non-Conference Tilt With Tufts, 84-71

Brookline, Mass. -- Tufts University sophomore Eric Savage (South Brunswick, N.J) had a team-high 17 points to lead the Jumbos to an 84-71 non-conference victory over the Newbury College Nighthawks Thursday evening at Pappas Gymnasium at Hellenic College. With the victory, Tufts improves to 3-2 on the season while Newbury falls to 1-3.

Tufts had four additional double-digit scorers include 15 points from Everett Dayton (Pacific Palisades, Calif) and 13 points from Patrick Racy (Ridgefield, Conn.) Thomas Lapham and Kene Adigwe each added 10 points for the visitors.

Justin Kouyoumdijian (La Canada, Calif.) had a team-high nine rebounds for Tufts while managed to outrebound Newbury 46-43.  Newbury's Ato Botsio (Canton, Mass) paced with Nighthawks with 11 boards.

Savage and Miles Bowser (Charlotte, N.C) each had five of the 27 Jumbo assist on the night.

The Nighthawks were led by 24 points from Daivon Edwards (Roxbury, Mass) and Jeduan Langston's (Roxbury, Mass) 19 points. Freshman Miguel Rivera (Waterbury, Conn) added 12 points and seven assists in the losing effort.

The Nighthawks return to action Tuesday, December 5th when they travel to Mount Ida College to take on the Mustangs. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 PM.  Tufts University returns to the court On Saturday, December 2nd when they square off against Salem State University at 3:00 PM in the opening round of the New England Big 4 Classic.
