BROOKLINE, Mass. - Nighthawks pitcher Ethan Forrest (East Bridgewater, Mass.) and junior outfielder Matthew Sobray (Santa Clarita, Calif.) added to their postseason awards as both were recognized as members of the 2017 New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association Division III All-New England Team.
By virtue of their impressive seasons, Forrest was voted as a member of the All-New England Second Team while Sobray finds himself with a spot in on the All-New England Third Team.
Forrest, who finished his career with the Nighthawks as the program's most winningest pitcher, was also awarded the 2017 New England Collegiate Conference Pitcher of the Year Award earlier in May. Forrest finished the season 9-2 with a 2.38 ERA and set program records with wins in a season (9), strikeouts in a game (11), and led all of Division III in complete games (9).
Sobray, whose hot start yielded him the program records for triples in a season (7) and in a career (8), finished the season batting a team-high .400 with 52 hits, 21 of which were for extra bases. Sobray also led the team in OBP and Slugging.
Forrest and Sobray join Ryan Zahornasky and Alex Chetelat as the only players in Nighthawks program history to be named to the NEIBA All-New England Conference Team.
Zahornasky was a second-teamer in 2016, finishing the season batting .434. Chetelat finished as a third-team member in 2012 following a 6-3 season with a 3.47 ERA.
